# Rill, the AI inbox that only does what you allow

Rill is a free email app for Gmail and Outlook, with your calendar built in. It puts the people and work you care about on top and writes your replies for you to check. It can only do what you allow. Free and open source.

Try it on a sample inbox. No account needed.

## Important email on top

Rill sorts every email into VIPs, Goals, Needs reply, New senders and Other. People who have never written to you wait until you let them in.

- **VIPs**: people you picked
- **Goals**: helps a goal you set
- **Needs reply**: someone is waiting on you
- **New senders**: first-time senders
- **Other**: everything else

Each email starts with one line on what the sender wants and why it's on top.

- **They want**: one line on what the sender is asking for, above the thread.
- **Why it's on top**: the reason Rill put it here, in plain words.
- **Reply ready**: a draft waits in your drafts folder. Nothing sends until you press Send.

If they ask to meet, pick times you're free and Rill writes the reply.

## Caught up before the first meeting

- **Morning brief**: each morning, a few sentences on what needs you today, from your VIPs, your goals and your calendar.
- **Ask your inbox**: ask a question in plain words. Rill answers from your email and shows which message it came from.
- **Fast from the keyboard**: every action has a shortcut. Press ? to see them all.
- **Your calendar, next to your email**: day, week, month and agenda views on your Google or Outlook calendar. Answer invites from the email, share times you're free, book the meeting when they pick one, and add a Google Meet, Zoom or Teams link.
- **Uses the AI you already have**: on your computer, Rill writes with Claude Code or Codex, with their tools switched off.
- **Your email stays on your computer**: run it locally and everything is saved on your own disk.
- **Nothing sends on its own**: replies wait in your drafts until you send them. Calendar changes your guests would see wait for you too.

## You decide what it can touch

Rill never gets your email password. You sign in with One and choose what it may do. Everything it does is logged, including what it tried and was blocked from.

- **Starts read only.** Rill can read your email and calendar and nothing more until you allow it.
- **Everything is logged.** You see every action Rill took, and every one it was blocked from.
- **Turn it off in one click.** From your One account, any time.
- **Take it with you.** The same access works with the next AI app you try.

Rill was never allowed to delete, so the request stopped before it reached Gmail:
